Same as last year GENESIS Pharma participated as a sponsor of the 8th International Winter Special Olympics, which will be held in Nagano, Japan

GENESIS Pharma supports awareness-raising events on social discrimination issues
On Tuesday the 15th of February, the completion of the three-day long formal celebrations for the Lighting of the Flame of the 8th International Winter Games Special Olympics that will be held in Nagano, Japan from the 23rd of February until the 5th of March 2005 was marked with great success. GENESIS Pharma participated, for the second consecutive year in this important event, as an official sponsor of the Games, "adapting" two Greek athletes with special capabilities.

GENESIS Pharma initiative to support the two athletes is part of a complete and long term Corporate Social Responsibility programme. Additionally, this gesture confirms the commitment of the company in the elevation of the spirit of competition, the development of an environment of respect and dignity and the awareness-raising on issues on social discrimination and equal rights. Lastly, it is a sample of civilization beyond any business practice.

Within the frame of the events, as a gesture of recognition for the social initiative of the Special Olympics, GENESIS Pharma was presented with a special award that was offered to Mr. C. Evripides, CEO of the company, by Mrs. Ioanna Despotopoulou, President of the Special Olympics and General Secretary of the Ministry of Health.

On the occasion of the Honorary Award Mr. C. Evripides received, he stated: "We are really proud that our company has been held to its promise to support the socially challenged people and the amelioration of their quality of life. It is an honor for GENESIS Pharma to be able to participate in an event whose cause is to raise awareness and send a message of hope to everybody".

At the formal event of the Lighting of the Flame that was held in the presence of the President of Democracy Mr. C. Stefanopoulos and the President of the Special Olympics International, Dr. Timothy Kennedy Shriver, also present were executives of the Greek Government, such as the Minister of Health, Mr. N. Kaklamanis, the Vice Minister of Culture, Mrs. F. Palli-Petralia, the Vice Minister of Sports, Mr. G. Orfanos, the Maier of Athens, Mrs. N. Bakogiannis, members of the Greek and of the European Parliament and representatives of the Japanese Olympic Games Committee and athletes.
