GENESIS Pharma supports the 2nd International Biotechnology
    Conference

Adapting new and modern business methods and improving research in Greece, are the company's priorities towards the development of a strong biotechnology sector
Within the frame of development of biotechnology in Greece and the encouragement of entepreneurialship and competitiveness of the Greek companies, the distinguished company of pharmaceutical biotechnology GENESIS Pharma sponsored the 2nd International Biotechnology Conference, held in Athens on the 1st to 3rd July 2005.

More than 60 researchers and academics of global prestige, and among them the 2002 Nobel Awarded K. Wuthrich of the University of Zurich, representatives of the EU, and executives of commercial unions and pharmaceutical companies presented biotechnology's applications in the modern clinical pharmacology and medicine and also the business opportunities arising from the continuous scientific discoveries, rendering the conference as a reference point to the whole scientific and business society of the biotechnology sector.

Mr. C. Evripides, CEO of GENESIS Pharma and one of the main speakers of the conference, spoke on the "Business Models followed by Biopharmaceutical Companies", highlighting the importance of adapting new and modern business methods for the development and the competitiveness of biopharmaceutical companies. More specifically, he spoke of ". the perspectives of biotechnology being a common concern for all of us. The main challenge is to exploit the scientific novelties, offering and encouraging a commercial product of high standards, that the patient need. through business development, the scientific and research-based dimension of biotechnology is made possible."

Additionally, Mr. C. Evripides, spoke of the prospects of the European and Greek biotechnology sector: ". Europe is becoming a major player in biotechnology both entrepreneurially and in research. Top US biotechnology companies chose to become active in Europe through local partners. GENESIS Pharma is a good example of that, having partnerships with the biggest US biotechnology companies.". He ended his speech with the comments: ". at GENESIS Pharma we believe in the future of biotechnology in Greece and we are investing in it. We are already in the process of attracting scientific research in Greece through a strong network of partners.".

The 2nd International Biotechnology Conference was organized by BIONOVA, the national representative of the EuropaBio Organization, which represents 1500 biotechnological companies and organizations throughout Europe and the scientific magazine BIO, which is focused on bio-sciences. Support for the conference was also offered by significant Greek governmental and academic organizations, such as the Ministry of Health, Ministry of Development, Ministry of National Education, Ministry of Agricultural Development and Alimentation, the General Secretary of Research and Technology, the National Drug Organization (EOF), and the Medical School of The National and Capodistrian University of Athens.
