GENESIS Pharma was voted 8th in the competition Great Places to Work, and first by its employees based on their evaluations. The highest bonuses in the market, may partly justify the feeling of satisfaction felt by its employees.
At the same time, management's philosophy "management by wandering around system" allows for direct communication between higher management and the employees. On the occasion of this award on the above-mentioned competition, Marketing Week spoke with Mr. Costas Evripides, CEO of GENESIS Pharma.
Marketing Week: The evaluation nominated GENESIS Pharma in the first ten places of the Greek companies. For what reasons do you believe the employees are satisfied by their working environment?
C. Evripides: I will talk to you about the three reasons for which our company's evaluation was so positive: justice - respect - companionship. Justice, because the employees feel that at any given time they are assessed fairly and they enjoy accordingly their share of success.
Respect, because our relationship with our people are based on a basic principle: the employee is not a production unit, but a human unit, with its own personality, and with the potential to achieve any goal as high as it may be.
Companionship, because they all feel that they belong to a team, partly because they participate in the company's decision making process and partly because the company is actively participating in every significant moment of their lives.
MW: It played significant role to the employees during the evaluation the benefits you offer and especially the bonus system. Would you like to talk to us about the effect of the above-mentioned policies in relation to the employees' satisfaction?
C. Evripides: The high bonuses the company offers are based on their high performance, but I do not believe they receive the benefit single-sided. Bonuses and significant benefits to our people are a proof of the feeling of justice that I mentioned before. The employees of GENESIS Pharma are the driving power of our success; hence it is only fair to share success with them. Secondly, the acknowledgment of their efforts increases their work satisfaction and works as a motive for the achievement of even better results.
MW: Would you like to talk to us about your management philosophy and how the employees perceive it?
C. Evripides: We aim to have open and direct communication between higher management and the employees. Within this context, I personally participate in many departments' meeting, where my goal is to communicate with clarity and precision the vision and strategy of the company. Communication in GENESIS Pharma works both ways, since we aim to encourage our employees to participate in the decision making process. For that reason, we urge our employees to express their opinions and judgment on the company's policies.
MW: What are the policies of GENESIS Pharma regarding employee education?
C. Evripides: Our main concern is the development of a working environment which motivates and promotes the continuous advancement of our people along with the continuous improvement of their capabilities. Within this context, GENESIS Pharma's policy for the continuous educational advancement of its employees is to provide coverage of 60-100% of the expenses arising from long term seminars and educational programs MBA/MSc.
